A cyclocross PSA

With CX nationals in December, it can only serve that the logical thing to do (rather than conform to the standards of the rest of the cycling world) is to move the US season earlier.

Of course, all self-respecting crossers know about the NJ State Fair SpectaCross (sponsored by Erwin Vervecken Web Design) on July 31-August 1. However, in some attempt to further accelerate the CX season into July(!), the Mount Snow Classic is having a CX race on July 25, to accompany the usual host of mtb races. And yes, I found this because I was already searching BikeReg for cyclocross races. In June.

The only issue is that this weekend would conflict with ORAMM. Decisions.

I imagine the mt snow one will just be on their same old stupid mtb short track course. but i could be wrong.

nj state fair, though, that's the real deal.

Holy shit that is early!

I agree that the course will probably be the STXC and really lame, and that ORAMM would be a much better choice!

I'm definitely no CXer, but it seems for the most part the early season races are fast and dry whereas the later season ones are epic mudfests more associated with European cyclocross.

Yeah- from BikeReg:

"Cyclcross on our Short Track course that winds around the Main Base Area"

Let's not kid ourselves...I like fast and dry. Entirely a function of how I place, however.

I should also add that Mt. Snow might be my first opportunity to do a legit cross country race...my first attempt ended in a double flat after about a mile.
